Light railway system project, AMT

Design study (preliminary design and cost assessment) for passenger information systems (public address systems, electronic display and Web server), remote protection systems (alarm-intrusion, access control, remote monitoring), control systems (SCADA and control room) and communication systems (telephony, radiocommunication and data transmission) within the scope of the implementation of an LRT between downtown Montreal and the south shore. The study also included cabling, and related equipment such as uninterruptible power supply system (UPS).
Services provided
-
Identification of functional and operational requirements
-
Definition of design standards and criteria
-
Elaboration of system’s targeted architecture
-
Description of functionalities of various systems
-
Configuration of systems and identification of components
-

Unique aspects
This project distinguished itself by a system design based on a completely automated LRT concept. The importance of an integrated vision of the telecommunications systems combined with the standardization of technologies made it possible to optimize capital costs and reduce operation costs. High performance, availability, reliability, maintainability and security criteria integrated in both installations and the control centre were amongst the challenges met by the project team.
