Industry/Plant Automation project, Alexandria, Egypt - Implementation of an energy control system in the form of a programmable controller system, enabling the acquisition of relevant data and measurements, and the ability to shed the loads automatically so as to eliminate over consumption and to maximize production while reducing the plant’s average consumption. (1995-1997) Reconstruction of the Duchesne et Fils nail and mesh plant, Yamachiche. Nail and mesh plant and distribution centre covering about 200,000 sq. ft. Includes three (3) production lines; one wire drawing plant; packaging, storage and handling equipment. Comprehensive mandate in ESMC (engineering, supplies, construction management, management and construction) of the plant and distribution centre. Design, engineering, programming and implementation of the plant control system, integration of the autonomous control systems into the plant control system. (November 1998-February 2000) Rolls-Royce, Trent Atwater, gas turbine test cell, Montreal, Quebec. Construction of a test cell for the industrial gas turbine family in the Trent series; natural gas compressor up to 1,500 psi, 120-kV transformer station, combustible room, room for auxiliary equipment, control room, warehouse and administrative offices. Detailed design of SCADA, protection and emergency stop systems; functional specifications; system architecture including person-machine interfaces; panel design; connection drawings; planning drawings for equipment and panels; equipment selection and verification of suppliers’ drawings. (2000-2001) Modifications – Control rooms/Systems – Beauharnois power plant. As part of the complete modernization of the Beauharnois power plant, modification to the layout of the control room and the computer room. Planning of emergency systems of the SFWC type (Static feed without cuts) requiring several direct current sources and 4 battery rooms. (1990) Optimization of slab presses – Tembeck Chetwynd. Raising the productivity of two slab presses by changing their control logic so as to compress the pulp more quickly. Services of an experienced Automation Engineer were provided by Dessau for programming on a Siemens S5 automatic control system; adjustment of timers and pressure settings; adjustment of the position switches, logic changes to reduce the pulp pressing cycle; implementation of a benchmark test and training for maintenance staff on Siemens PLC S5. (November 24 to December 12, 2003) Duvernay station – Renovation of three synchronous compensators. Renovation of three synchronous compensators of +250 Mvar at the Duvernay station (735-315-120 kV) including the following:
Nikamo station, addition of the MHTO automatic control. Addition of the power down sequential automatic control at the Nikamo station (2000) including the following:
City of Mont-Tremblant – Modernization of the St-Roch’s potable waster plant. - Replacement of the original Leeds & Northrup Davavue human machine interface by a new Wonderware’s Intouch operating station. Turnkey project consisting of the provisioning, the configuration, the installation and startup of a human machine interface, including the communication link with the Leeds & Northrup Micromax II controller.
