Energy automation project, Aluminerie Alouette

All the 161 kV (SF6) station switchgear and rectifier groups were awarded to ABB Canada inc. / Dessau - in a turnkey contract.  Many suppliers and engineering disciplines were involved in the project.  The electrical energy distribution towards different load centres was carried out through a loop of 25 kV substations and a remote control system, telemetering and remote signal, and a programmable automation device was added.

In their data processing program, Aluminerie Alouette added to the real time control (level I) processing and technical updating functions to the electrical sector (level II).  A peak power control software was added to level I.

Services provided

  • Participation at kick-off meetings, contribution to execution programs and schedules

  • Participation in discussions with Hydro-Quebec in order to choose the metering and protection for the 161 kV lines

  • Complete engineering of inco-ming 161 kV as far as the SF6 station

  • Supply and installation of equipment

  • Establishment of grouping all the ABB suppliers together, consulting on all their drawings and preparation of templates for anchoring the equipment
