Scope of Work

Construction management for three major factory expansions, including a 75,000-sq. ft. expansion of NCB2-class clean rooms.

Verreault, a Dessau subsidiary specializing in construction, was responsible for the initial 75,000-sq. ft. expansion of NCB2-class clean rooms. A second expansion, 50,000 sq. ft. on two levels, included chemistry, microbiology and virology laboratories, environmental chambers, validated cold rooms, an NCB2 high-containment seed-preparation zone (NCB3 construction standards), and a 50,000-cu. ft. validated freezer.

A subsequent 13,000-sq. ft. expansion began with the

construction of a change room for 200 people, an NCB2 high-containment clean change room (NCB3 construction standards), and expansion of the cooker area.

Verreault is currently adding a new 85,000-sq. ft. filling and packaging line and a new 37,000-sq. ft. office building. These projects are being built with the aim of receiving LEED and LEED Gold certification respectively.

Challenges

  • Conduct construction operations near ongoing vaccine production operations, requiring a high level of containment.
  • Integrate mechanical elements into the structure in a complex pharmaceutical setting comprising a number of mechanical elements and process services.
  • Complete the first three expansions in fast-track mode.
