2009 AQME Award – Laurier Nichols, eng.

Awarded by the Quebec Association of Energy Managers (AQME) to Laurier Nichols, Vice President, Special Projects, for his lifetime achievement in engineering and in recognition of his contribution to the improvement of energy efficiency in buildings.

2009 Quebec city architectural merit awards

Five projects involving Dessau and Verreault (a Dessau subsidiary) earned awards for excellence in architectural design from the City of Quebec. These prizes include:

    Awarded by the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) in the New Institutional Buildings category in recognition of the new high energy performance building for the Quebec Grain Research Institute (CÉROM).

    2009 Ashrae Technology Award, First place

    Mistissini Community Centre

    Awarded by the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) in the New Public Assembly Building category in recognition of the design of the heating, refrigeration, ventilation and air conditioning systems for the Mistissini Community Centre, which was built for the Council of the Cree Nation of Mistissini.

    Awarded by Deloitte, CIBC, Queen's School of Business, National Post and Les Affaires in recognition of excellence in Canadian-owned and -managed companies.

    One Of Canada’s Top 50 Employers – 2009

    Awarded by Hewitt Associates.

    Dessau ranks 31st among the top 50 Employers in Canada. The survey, which was carried out at Canadian companies in different sectors, measures employee satisfaction.

    2008 Ashrae Technology Award, Honourable Mention

    L’Horizon Professional Training Centre

    Awarded by the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) in the New Institutional Buildings category for the L’Horizon Professional Training Centre project.

    2008 Quebec City Architectural Merit Awards

    Awarded by the City of Quebec to Verreault, a Dessau subsidiary working in construction, in recognition of architectural excellence for the following five projects:

      Service buildings for the Baie de Beauport recreational and aquatic facility

    Expansion of the Émile-Legault Professional Training Centre
    Construction of the Brown Basin Interpretation Walkway in the Port of Quebec City

    Awarded by the Canadian Institute of Steel Construction (CISC) in recognition of the expansion of the Émile-Legault Professional Training Centre and the construction of the Brown Basin Interpretation Walkway in the port of Quebec City (awarded to Verreault).

    2008 Special Jury Award – Laurier Nichols, Eng.

    Awarded by Hydro-Quebec during their "Excellence in Better Energy Consumption" contest. The award was presented to Mr. Laurier Nichols, Eng., in recognition of his dedication to energy efficiency issues.

    2008 Innovation In Occupational Health And Safety Award

    Terrebonne Aquatic and Fitness Complex

    Awarded by the Quebec Occupational Health and Safety Commission (CSST) in recognition of Dessau’s creative injury-prevention solution during the construction of the Olympic-size pool at the Terrebonne Aquatic and Fitness Complex in the City of Terrebonne. Dessau received the Regional Award in the Large Company category.
